Andrew B Sharkey Ltd has been licensed by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) to carry out non – contentious probate work.
Details of the firm’s probate registration can be viewed at icaew.com/probate, under the firm’s reference number which begins C001382688.
This means that I am able to deal with a deceased persons assets (for example property, bank accounts and shares) and liabilities (debts) and manage the ‘probate process’.
As a Chartered Accountant I already have several years experience of dealing with the taxation and accounting affairs following someone’s death. My ICAEW accreditation authorises me to deal with matters that were previously ‘reserved legal activities’ that could only be carried out by a solicitor.
If you have been appointed as an executor under a valid will, or have responsibility for the administration of an estate where no will has been left, then I can help you.
I am also available to be appointed as a professional executor under a new or existing will. You will then have the reassurance of knowing that professional help is on hand immediately following the death of a loved one. Of course, this will be a time of great stress and sorrow for the immediate family and the overall picture of the estate may not be clear. Nevertheless, important decisions have to be taken and I will guide you through these in a sympathetic but professional manner.
Most solicitors’ fees are based on a percentage of the estate assets and can be between 1.50 % - 2.50% plus VAT. Alternatively they are based on an expensive hourly rate, plus VAT. My fees are based on the work that I actually do for you and will be charged at a reasonable hourly rate. I do not currently charge VAT.
I do hope that you never have to use my probate services but in the event that you do then please contact me.
